Website Analysis - Foster the People

Like any other band's website, the Foster The People website is very good for anyone wishing to obtain information about the band. When you first go on the website, the first thing you notice is the big, bold heading "foster the people" which instantly catches the viewers attention. Above this are the standard links to different pages such as 'news, shows, music, photos, videos, journal and store'. The next thing you notice is key information for the fans, for example the latest news and their tour dates.

The colour sheme of the website is very simple with a plain white background and black/grey headings - nothing too in your face, however nothing to attract the viewer. This in my opinion suggests that the band are not out to shock, they do not want to be one of those bands who are very load/bold, they seem very low key and do not want too much fuss.

Throughout the website there is lack of promotion or advertisement for the band. To start off, there isn't even a picture of the band as you enter the site as it is the album art which is cartoon like; you have to search your way through the website to get a glimpse of the band. But when you do there are it is mainly in black and white (so you do not get a clear image of them) hardly any close-up photos of the band and 'no-frills'.
With all this said, it seems to me that the band do not want to be known by their image but solely on thier music (which shows their dedication to their job) as their identity is hidden most of the time, and the fact that there is the option for music to be played in the background.

The website seems to target only their fans - if you don't know who they are then this website will not offer you a history of the band. Along with all this, there are no interactive facilities, no way of getting intrueged by the band.
